Construction Project Manager Jobs
What is a project manager?
A project manager in construction concerns themselves with the planning and execution of a construction project, meeting the client's needs, budgetary and time constraints. A technical knowledge and experience of working in construction is required, but other responsibilities are no different compared to in other sectors. Project managers must have an awareness of all sides of a project, including financial and organisational aspects.
How to be a project manager
A construction project manager needs to understand the financial, business, technical and organisational factors of the job. They have to be able to understand forecasts and projections on profitability and cost margins. They need to have a clear vision on how to execute the project, and then they need to be able to communicate that vision to internal teams and external stakeholders. Construction managers are therefore required to have a broad understanding and hands-on experience of every aspect of the business, while they may also be asked for a degree in civil engineering or construction management.
